The Environment and Rural Development Foundation (ERuDeF) was conceived in 1996 as the Agriculture Sector and Environment Research Group (ASERG) with focus on Lebialem Division of South West Cameroon by a small team of professionals. After conducting and compiling a number of researches in this Division by 1998 and following from the conclusions of these field studies, the members of ASERG decided to move forward to form a broad base group that could handle the challenges identified in the filed.
In 1999, a broad-base consultation for the formation of a broad-base organisation was launched and in August 1999, a constituent general meeting for the creation of the Environment and Rural Development Foundation was held. The pioneer executive committee was elected into place. This group has conceived and executed several projects in partnership with international organizations working in areas of research, especially conservation where the organization now focuses its attention.
