Lebialem Hunters Beekeeping Initiative (LHBI)

Embracing a philosophy of involving local communities in the protection of forest resources has for the past years been the strategy of ERuDeF, in an effort to achieve its organizational goal of environmental protection. The Lebialem-Mone forest is under threat as it is home to most of the endangered species whose continuous illegal exploitation seriously mitigates sustainable development efforts in these impoverished communities. The International Volunteering Program on Cross River Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Endangered Birds of Lebialem Highlands/Mt Bamboutos, Western Cameroon

This is a three to four week course aimed at building conservation interest in individuals and university students with no background in conservation. This field course/expedition equally brings students and volunteers from foreign universities to study the Cross River gorillas in the Lebialem-Mone Forest Landscape. It is organized four times in a year (January, April, July and November). The program involves bio-monitoring of great apes (gorillas and chimpanzees), community and school conservation education activities. More....
